Feline Frenzy: Area Cat Hospitalized After Overdosing on Catnip

In a bizarre turn of events, a local cat has been rushed to the hospital after overdosing on catnip. The cat, whose name has not been released, is said to have consumed an entire bag of the potent herb, sending it into a state of feline frenzy.

According to witnesses, the cat began to exhibit strange behavior shortly after ingesting the catnip. It started meowing loudly and rolling around on the ground, seemingly unable to control its movements. At first, onlookers found the sight amusing, but soon it became clear that something was seriously wrong.

“The cat was just going nuts,” said local resident Tom Jenkins. “It was like it was possessed or something. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Realizing that the cat was in distress, a group of concerned citizens quickly called animal control. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found the cat thrashing around on the ground, its eyes dilated and its fur standing on end.

“We knew right away that something was wrong,” said Officer Rachel Chen. “We’ve seen cats react to catnip before, but never like this.”

The officers quickly sprang into action, administering a sedative to calm the cat down. They then rushed it to the nearest animal hospital, where it was placed under observation.

According to Dr. Emily Thompson, the cat’s condition was touch and go for a while. “When we first brought the cat in, it was in a state of extreme agitation,” she said. “We had to monitor its vital signs very closely, because we were afraid that it might go into cardiac arrest.”

Fortunately, the cat pulled through, and is now said to be recovering well. However, the incident has sparked a fierce debate about the dangers of catnip, and whether or not it should be regulated like other controlled substances.

“It’s clear that this cat had way too much catnip,” said animal rights activist Susan Brown. “We need to start taking this seriously, before more cats are hurt.”

Others, however, are less convinced. “Look, catnip is harmless,” said local pet store owner Bob Smith. “It’s just a fun toy for cats. We can’t regulate everything just because one cat had a bad reaction.”

Despite the controversy, the incident has generated a lot of interest on social media, with many people sharing their own stories of cats going wild on catnip. Some have even started jokingly referring to the herb as “kitty crack.”

“I don’t know about all this regulation stuff,” said local resident Lisa Taylor. “But I do know that I’ll be keeping a closer eye on my own cat from now on. I don’t want her ending up like that poor feline in the hospital.”
